Single Golfers: On Common Ground

There is a lot of ways to meet someone these days. Everything from online dating to the classic blind date set up by your friends are constantly being tried to help you find that special partner in your life. But, have you considered that it is important to have a common interest with any potential partner before you even meet?

Meeting someone for the first time on a date can be an awkward experience. If you don't really know what interests the other person has, conversation can feel strained and more like an interrogation than a friendly and relaxed night on the town. That's why having a common interest before you connect is a great way to help your potential relationship get off on the right foot.

Golf is a great starting point for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is in and of itself the ideal location to physically have your first date. Play a round of golf and get to know someone, follow it up by a drink or two at the 19th hole, and if all goes well do the same thing again. If all goes sour, consider it a good day golfing and go on your merry way.

Secondly, it takes a golfer to understand a golfer. It's hard to explain to a non-golfer why you need to spend 5 hours on the course several times a week when they don't share your passion for the game. This is a surefire way to quickly build resent within your relationship if not properly dealt with. This is not to say that a non-golfer can't live harmoniously with an avid golfer, but it does help.

So, if you are a golfer and looking for a life partner, you should consider looking for another golfer who shares your love of the game. It may make your life easier down the road and lead to a more enjoyable relationship.
