When Life Throws You A Curve Ball...

Things are going along smoothly when all of a sudden life throws you a curve ball. There are times when everything is going your way and then the unexpected happens. A job is lost, a relationship ends, a friend betrays you. How you react to these curve balls makes all the difference. This is when your strength of character and positive outlook will move you forward. When things happen it is important to embrace your feelings, have a pity party if you like, rely on your support group and move on. Are you able to learn from these situations so that you can bring that insight to future situations? If this is hard for you then life may throw you similar curve balls until you "get it". It is OK to feel upset, betrayed, angry or confused but follow those feelings a little deeper. What can you take responsibility for? What did you contribute to the outcome? Try standing a little taller, holding to the belief that things happen for a reason. Maybe there is something better, something bigger, something more fulfilling just waiting for you. On the flip side maybe things happen for the sake of happening and you have no control over it. Take responsibility when you can and be willing to accept there is a reason for things happening that you may never understand.

ACTION TIPS FOR THE WEEK:

1. Review past

Are there similar experiences that continue to pop up in your life? Looking at the past is there a pattern that has developed? If so, realize that the common denominator is you. What can you take responsibility for so it doesn't continue to happen. Make a list of what comes to mind.

2. Out of the blue curve ball

If something truly unexpected has happened, how do you handle it? Do you try to ignore it by pushing it aside, or do you embrace it for what it is and face it head on. Remember that running away will only get you so far. Make a commitment to yourself this week to face the unexpected and see what you can learn from it.

3. Rely on others

Some of us have a hard time asking for help in times of need. It is OK to rely on others for their support, advice and a warm shoulder. These support structures will get you through and help you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Have a great week! Leslie
